
Italian Language Classes - FAQ

What is included in the language program?
Depending on your selected Program Options, the program includes hotel accomodations for up to 7 nights with daily breakfast included, 6 to 20 hours of language classes, course materials, guided excursions and city tours, entry fees as needed for program itinerary, welcome and farwell dinners, transportation and airport transfers. Depending on your selected cultural options, the program will also include: cooking classes, visit to wineries and enoteca or art and history museums.
Do I need to have a specific language level to participate?
No. Upon confirming your reservation, a questionaire will be provided in order to evaluate your Italian language skills. You will be matched to other individuals with similar language ability.
What kind of approach will be used during the italian lessons?
A combination of methodologies and approaches will be used based on the language level of each client. A primary example is the CLIL approach (Content and Language Integrated Learning). This approach is utilized when teaching a discipline, such as cooking classes or art/history lectures. The contents and the topics of the discipline are given emhpasis in the foreign language in order to increase the individuals practical knowledge of the language.
I understand there will be moments during the excursion where italian along with english instruction will be given. Is it correct?
Yes. In the cultural activities, such as cooking classes and art museums, the instructors or guides will offer explanations, in part, in Italian in order to expand your practical application of the language.
Do we have a final exam at the conclusion of the week?
No. There are no "formal' exams during the week, but some brief quizes will be used to measure your progress and help you understand what areas you should work more on to develop your ability.
How many people are there in each class group?
Class sizes range from 4 to 8 participants.
Where are the classes held?
The classes are in most cases held in traditional classroom settings, located in the historical city centers for Frosinone and Siena. On other special occassions for the Food and Wine programs, a select property (agriturismo) in the countryside can be used for classes, as well as the accommodations.
