The Sicily Greek Theater tour is for those who wish to explore the eastern shores of the island with the many UNESCO sites and cities, plus enjoy performances held in the Greek Theater of Siracusa.
The theater was built around 470 B.C. With a capacity of 15,000 spectators and a diameter of almost 140 meters, it was the largest theater in the ancient world.
The Sicily Cultural Tour offers several start dates to choose from. Dates are limited to May, June or July each year based on the performance schedule.

Eremo – Madonna della Grazie *** Located on a hill that dominates a great area overlooking the countryside along the southeast coastline of the island, this fully restored structure was originally utilized by the Capuchin friars. Once a place for contemplation and prayer, the property today still offers true solitude, but with the comforts and style of a modern day hotel.
Anime a Sud *** A stylish 16th-century-residence restored with 3 private suites, each with private bathroom; a common living space and kitchen; mediterranean garden, private grotto spa and underground wine cellar. The property located next to the cathedral of S. Giorgio in the heart of Modica.

After your arrival to the Catania airport, you will meet your driver and transfer by private vehicle to Taormina for hotel check-in. Balance of the day at your leisure. Later you can enjoy a welcome dinner and overnight. (D)
Breakfast in the hotel. Begin your day in Taormina with a short introduction city tour and a visit to the Greek-Roman Amphitheatre, offering its enchanting view of the famed Mt. Etna and the Ionic Sea. After completion of the tour, you can appreciate the city for its reputation as a popular Sicilian destination city. Taormina offers its beautiful beach (Isola Bella) and its multitude of shops and restaurants along its main street Corso Umberto. The evening and dinner are at your leisure. Optional Afternoon Excursion: Mt. Etna w/ cable car and optional volcano jeep ride, cost is extra (details below). (B, Optional Tour)
Hotel breakfast starts the day, then a late morning departure to visit to one of the Mt. Etna wineries, followed by lunch at the winery. The wine producing estate, located on the slopes of the volcano is surrounded by extensive vineyards and panoramic views. You can enjoy a wine tasting and guided visit to the wine cellar, plus a special lunch. Later, a drive back to Taormina for free time and the evening on your own. (B, L, W)
Breakfast, then depart for Siracusa and its historic center – Ortigia. On arrival a walking tour of the historic city, to admire the Cathedral, the Aretusa fountain and the ancient streets. Afterwards you can complete your hotel check in, then take time for a lunch on your own. In the late afternoon, depart from the hotel with driver and meet with your private guide at the Archaeological Park. The archaeological site is home to a number of well preserved Greek (and Roman) ruins. Of most interest is the famous – Ear of Dionysius, the Roman amphitheatre and of course the Greek theatre. After the tour you will remain in the Greek theater to see the evening performance. Using the traditions and simplistic theatrical approach, the theater comes alive as it did centuries ago. Afterwards take your transfer back to the hotel and dinner on you own at a nearby restaurant in Piazza Duomo. (B, PT)
Breakfast, then depart to Caltagirone; one of the most lively Baroque towns in central Sicily. It is known as “The city of Sicilian Ceramics” due to its thousand-year-old traditions. Time for lunch in a local restaurant and afterwards Afterwards, time to return to Ortigia to relax and enjoy the late afternoon and evening and dinner at your leisure. (B)
Following breakfast, this day is set aside of your choice of options. First available, a guided tour of a typical food market in the old city (Ortigia), followed by a cooking class with local chefs. After the class a lunch of the prepared items (see cost details below). Then in the early evening, you have the option of the second performance of Greek Theater, or spending time on your own in Ortigia. (B, Options)
Breakfast at the hotel then depart for Marzamemi, an old fishing village, where you can visit and taste the local products of the Tonnara (tuna fishery), plus other locals seafood specialties. After lunch venture on to meet your private guide in Noto; the apotheosis of Baroque town planning and architecture and one of the main UNESCO sites of the region. Then after a day of excursion touring, you will have to pleasure to arrive to one of the unique accommodations we have recently come to appreciate in the region. Originally built in the early 16th century and used by Capuchin friars, the fully restored buildings now serve as a splendid hotel; just outside the ancient town of Avola, the property provides spectacular views of the surrounding area and the coastline below. After check-in a cocktail on the outdoor patio, then later a welcome dinner at the restaurant, where you will enjoy a traditional Sicilian meal. (B, D)
Breakfast, then depart for a day in Modica and Ragusa. Your guide will meet you in Modica, a city of – magnificent churches, with their inspiring domes, bell towers and intricate facades, punctuate the red-tiled roofs and one is struck by the uniform beauty of the whole. The center piece is undoubtedly the beautiful Church of San Giorgio. Afterwards a short visit to an antique chocolate factory. Modica is also custodian of a 400 year tradition of Sicilian chocolate-making. Time for lunch in Modica, then on to Ragusa; one of the major UNESCO Heritage sites, it boasts of its 18 protected and historical buildings. Then back to the hotel (Eremo) and an evening dinner at the hotel restaurant to enjoy the superb and refined dishes based on typical recipes from local culinary traditions as a part of your last night in Sicilia! Introduction: The Greek Theater and Cultural Sicily Tour is organized in such a way to accommodate as few as two persons or a small group of up to 8 persons. The tour is a combination of services and products designed for customers that wish to enjoy the moderate freedom of a semi-escorted program with the assurance that all the details of the itinerary have been arranged ahead of their arrival. Hotel personnel, the transportation drivers and official tour guides whom we employ for their services all agree with our expectation to provide our clients with a high level of customer service and attention.
Payments: A 40% deposit is required in order to confirm your reservation. Payments can be made by credit card (VISA, M/C, AMEX) or by PAYPAL. Payments can also be made by Euro bank transfer. The balance payment will be due 60 days prior to the Start Date for your selected tour. If reservation is made inside the 60-day period, then full payment is required. With credit card payments, the balance payment will automatically be charged to the credit card provided, unless the reservation is otherwise cancelled or notice is given to use an alternate form of payment.
Credit Cards: American Express, VISA, MasterCard and DiscoverCard are accepted for reservations and payments. Reservations and Payments: For any Group Tour or Special Event Ticket Package reservation, the initial deposit is due from the confirmation of its availability or on receipt of invoice. Payment of any remaining balance due, unless otherwise stated, must be paid no later than 60 days prior to designated Starting or Travel Date. For Deposit Reservations, the Balance Payment will automatically be charged to the credit card provided, unless the reservation is otherwise cancelled or notice is given to use an alternate form of payment. For Group Tours no changes are allowed less than 60 days prior to departure. Before final payment, prices are subject to changes in currency exchange rates and prices can be adjusted if necessary before any final payment. Changes to the original reservation or Cancellations will result in a $100 Change Fee per reservation. Payments can be made through the online payment service provider, PAYPAL, or by direct credit card charges.
Refunds and Cancellations: The Company reserves the right to cancel any Group Tour at any time if sufficient reservations are not received or for other unforeseen reasons that impair the success or enjoyment of the tour, event, activity, as the case may be. In these cases all deposits and or payments will be returned in full.
Performance Cancellations: Cancellations by the Greek Theater of its respective performances are refundable.
IF YOU DECIDE TO CANCEL, YOU MUST NOTIFY THE COMPANY IN WRITING OF YOUR INTENT TO CANCEL. If you cancel a reservation and the written cancellation is received within 30 days from the date you made the reservation, then all fees paid will be refunded, with exception to the provisions for Tickets stated above and otherwise net of credit card service charges.
After the first 30 days of your reservation period, deposits and payments for accommodations will follow the refund schedule below. If you cancel after the first 30-day period and someone takes your place, then administrative cancellation fees may apply, in addition to Ticket costs, which will be deducted from your deposit or payments.

Hotels & Meals: Group Tours – Hotels are selected based on quality and our own personal experience. Our minimum requires that the hotel has been listed for 3 stars as rated by the Italian Government. Air conditioning is standard for all rooms and they are equipped with shower, telephone, and TV and in most cases a mini bar. Breakfast will be served each day, consisting of cereals, breads, pastries, butter, jams, sliced meats, fresh fruit, juices, and coffee, tea, espresso, or cappuccino. Customer is responsible for expenses associated with personal items incurred while staying at the hotel (i.e. mini-bar items, telephone calls). Other than breakfast, an additional meals will be provided as noted on each itinerary by “group lunch” or “group dinner”. The combination of dinners and lunches, depends on your tour itinerary and group size.
Itinerary: Group Tours – The Company reserves the right to alter the itinerary or substitute hotel accommodations or transportation services as it may become necessary to provide for a tour that meets with our requirement to provide the best in special event travel.
Tour Guides: The Company has arranged for expert tour guides to accompany your group on the various city tour segments of the itinerary. Each maintains their official status, Guida Turistica Autorizzata, with the tourist boards and local authorities.
Travel Suggestions: Some tour dates are in the middle of the summer months and while evenings in Italy can be comfortable, the days especially in August are very warm. So pack light and bring your best warm weather gear and clothing, especially in July and August tour dates. So that we can accommodate the transfer of all parties and their luggage, please limit yourself to one piece of luggage, in addition to one carry-on type bag. Reasonable baggage sizes should apply. If this cannot be accomplished, please notify us at the time of your reservation. A nominal surcharge may apply in order to transport your luggage.
Group Tour Members: The tours require each participant to provide their cooperation to unexpected situations that may occur during the tour. Also each member should be prepared for walking during the guided city tours and be mentally alert during such group activities. If you have any physical or other health concerns, we suggest that you speak to your doctor and for him/her to access you ability to partake in the itinerary. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate requests for wheel-chairs or individuals that require special assistance. The Company reserves the right to decline to accept any person as a member of a tour, or require any participant to withdraw from the tour at any time should such person becomes a risk to the health or safety of himself or other tour members.
Passports & Visas: All customers must posses a valid passport and/or any visas or special travel documents that can be used a proof of citizenship. The Company accepts no liability for clients improperly documented. For holders of U.S. passport: the passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your planned date of departure. ie. if you leave the U.S. on February 10, 2017 then the expiration date would need to be August 10, 2017 (or after).
Travel Insurance Protection: To cover costs associated with your reservation, the Company encourages you to consider purchasing a travel insurance policy. The Company does not supply or support any one company in this regard but can make suggestions as to the companies that provide this service – see these options in the tab section below.

Embassies and Consulates issue passports for emergencies requiring immediate travel. Emergency passports are limited in validity, and cannot be extended. Passport holders are required to exchange their limited validity passports for a full-validity photo-digitized passport upon completion of their emergency travel, either through passport facilities in the U.S. or at U.S. Embassies and Consulates abroad.
If your passport was lost or stolen, you are advised to report the loss/theft to the local Italian police in the area in which it occurred. Although filing a police report is advised, it is not a requirement to apply for an emergency passport. In order to replace the passport, you must apply in person at the appropriate Consular office for the district you are in and submit:
• proof of citizenship (a certified, sealed birth certificate, Consular Report of Birth Abroad, Certificate of Naturalization or expired passport) if possible, or
• one valid form of photo identification (e.g. foreign passport, driver’s license, military ID, etc.) if possible, and

As of February 1, 2008, the two-parent consent requirement for all passport services was extended to include all children under age 16. Either both parents must be present to provide signatures at the time of passport application, or in the event one parent cannot attend, s/he must send a notarized statement of consent and valid identification.
